Local storage is used for learning progress and for remembering that you have seen the site notice. Third-party sites you open from the library have their own practices. Effective 21 September 2026.
1. The short version
You can use the courses without creating an account. If your browser allows storage, we write small records on this device so that completed chapters, bookmarks and quiz scores survive a refresh. A separate record remembers that you acknowledged the notice at the bottom of the page.
We do not drop advertising cookies, measure you across other websites, or run a third-party analytics tag.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to store. Local storage is a similar browser feature. Mauritius data-protection law and, where they apply, other countries’ electronic-privacy rules treat some of these tools as requiring information, and in some cases a choice, unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested.
Progress keys are used to provide the “remember this chapter on this browser” feature. The notice key is used so the banner is not repeated on every page once you have acknowledged it. You can refuse both by blocking site data; the courses still render, but progress will not persist, and the notice may appear again.

Course keys are isolated: Mauritius Tax progress is not written into the Companies, Trusts or Special Licences records.
4. What we do not store in this edition
- Advertising cookies;
- social-media pixels;
- a unique advertising identifier created by us.
5. Hosting and other websites
The machine that serves these files may still use its own cookies or logs — for example a content-delivery network’s security cookie, or a host’s firewall. Those are the host’s tools, described in the host’s notices, not a Master of None learner profile.
When you follow a source link to the Mauritius Revenue Authority, a Gazette PDF, the Financial Services Commission, the Bank of Mauritius or a foreign authority, that site may set cookies. Read that site’s notice. We do not control it.
6. How to delete or block
- On a course overview or chapter reader, use Reset saved progress for that course.
- In your browser, delete site data or cookies for this origin.
- You can also use a private window. Progress will not be there the next time unless you keep the storage.
If storage is blocked entirely, the lessons still open. A message on the chapter explains that progress cannot be saved.
7. The notice on first visit
The banner is information, not a consent wall for advertising, because this edition does not advertise. Choosing Understood writes the notice key so we do not repeat the banner on every navigation in that browser. It does not switch on tracking.
8. Changes
Do not assume a silent tracker is authorised by this notice.
