What this site does not collect.

1. Who is responsible

The controller of any personal data processed for this website is the operator of Master of None. This edition does not publish a separate postal address, telephone number or email inbox on the site. We do not operate a contact form.

If you later write to an address we publish, or to the domain or hosting account used to serve these files, that correspondence is processed only to handle the request or a legal duty.

This notice is written against the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017 and, where a visitor in another country is protected by that country’s mandatory rules, those rules as they actually apply. It is not a claim that we are established in the European Union, nor a claim that we have appointed a Data Protection Officer. If registration with the Data Protection Office of Mauritius is required for our processing, that is an operator compliance step separate from this teaching draft.

2. What we do not process on the site

In this edition we do not:

• run a mailing list, chat, comment box or upload;
• embed advertising, social pixels or analytics scripts;
• sell lists of visitors;
• build a server-side profile of which chapters you completed.

Quizzes and simulations run in your browser. Their working numbers are teaching cases, not your tax file.

3. What stays on your device

If your browser allows it, the site writes small JSON records to local storage on this device:

This is similar technology to a cookie, not an HTTP cookie set by our pages. It is used to provide a feature you ask for: remembering progress on this device. It is not used to advertise to you. See Cookies and local storage.

You can reset course progress from a course overview or chapter reader. You can also delete site data in your browser settings. We cannot retrieve a copy of that local record from a server, because it is not sent to us.

4. Hosting and technical logs

The site is a set of static files. Whoever hosts those files — a web server, a content-delivery network, or similar — typically processes technical request data to deliver the page and to keep the service secure. That can include internet protocol address, date and time, requested path, referrer, and browser type.

We do not, in this edition, operate a separate analytics product on top of those logs. The host may still retain logs under its own terms, for security, abuse prevention, billing of the host account, or legal duty. Those logs can be personal data. Retention follows the host, not a learner-profile policy on this site.

The files may be served from infrastructure outside Mauritius. Technical data may therefore be processed in other countries. We do not operate a learner database to transfer. You should assume that ordinary web hosting is not a Mauritius-only processing environment unless your particular host contract says otherwise.

5. Why we process what little we process

Local storage of progress is used to provide the learning feature you choose to use on that browser. The cookie-notice key is used to remember that you have seen the notice. Hosting logs, where they exist, are used to operate, secure and diagnose a public website.

We do not rely on advertising consent, because we do not serve ads in this edition.

6. Recipients

In this edition there is no list of marketing partners. Recipients of technical data, if any, are the hosting, domain and security providers needed to publish the files, and authorities where a legal duty requires disclosure. Official source websites you choose to open receive whatever their own pages collect; that is not our processing of a learner file.

7. Retention

Local storage remains until you reset it, clear the browser, or the browser evicts it. We do not set an expiry on the progress records. Hosting logs follow the host. Correspondence, if you send any, is kept only as long as needed to handle it and any legal hold.

8. Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act 2017 you may, subject to the Act’s conditions and exceptions, request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, or object to certain processing, and you may complain to the Data Protection Office of Mauritius.

Because this edition has no server-side learner profile, an access request will ordinarily not reveal chapter scores stored only in your browser. We cannot erase a localStorage key on your laptop from here. You can erase it yourself, as described above. Requests that concern hosting logs depend on what the host actually holds and on the identifiers you can provide; an IP address shared with other people is not a precise learner file.

If you are protected by another country’s mandatory data-protection law, you may also have rights under that law, including a complaint to that country’s supervisory authority, where it applies to this site.

9. Children

The courses are written for students and financial-services professionals. They are not directed at children. Do not use the site to store a child’s educational record.

10. Security

Static files and local storage are not a vault. Do not type secrets, client names, or tax identification numbers into a simulation field: those fields are teaching inputs on your device, not a secure client system. Use an https:// address. Browsers may block some scripts on a file:// copy of the site.
